Chuck Close has reinvigorated the traditional medium of portrait painting. Working from photographs and primarily within a large-scale, gridded format of meticulously crafted colored marks, Close makes iconographic images of family, friends and self-portraits that push the limits of portraiture. Close has been the subject of one-person exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and many other museums and galleries around the world.
A former curator at MoMA, Robert Storr is currently the Rosalie Solow Professor of Modern Art at New York University’s Institute of Fine Art, the curator of the 2007 Venice Biennale and a Consulting Curator of Modern Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Each event: $25/$15 for College Art Association members or teachers with ID.
