In addition, the CRT program will launch its web-based student-run journal, at http://www.DOTcommentary.com, under the direction of Rosetta Brooks.
Zolghadr joins other distinguished guests Art Center’s CRT program has welcomed in the past year to speak and/or conduct seminars:
Adam Gopnik, staff writer at the New Yorker
Mike Kelley, artist
Ann Magnuson, artist
Dmitri Siegel, designer and design theorist
In addition to our core courses in critical writing and thinking, Art Center’s intensive summer CRT program will offer seminars on independent arts publishing; the marketing of ethnicity in the art world; and artists’ writing.
The interdisciplinary writing-based program offers an opportunity to think beyond traditional academic categories, as it addresses art and design as key components in contemporary culture. It forms the critical complement to Art Center’s practice-based graduate programs in Art, Film, Industrial Design and Media Design. Students have the unique opportunity to work with professional critics, scholars, artists and designers, as well as to work alongside graduate students in these other programs. Graduates of the program are prepared for careers as critics and writers, and for positions in museums and publishing. They are also prepared to continue their studies in doctoral programs in art and design theory, criticism, and history, as well as other fields of cultural studies.
Faculty include: Rosetta Brooks, Bruce Hainley, Amy Gerstler, Jane McFadden, Jeremy Gilbert-Rolfe, Jason Smith, Dmitri Siegel, Peter Lunenefeld, Tim Martin.
Applicants to the program have diverse backgrounds in the arts and sciences, including literature, philosophy, art and design history, cultural studies and film. Students are admitted in the fall and spring terms. All students receive substantial funding.
