On Three Tales: Beryl Korot and Steve Reich
In conjunction with city- and worldwide celebrations of composer Steve Reich’s seventieth birthday, the Whitney presents Three Tales (2006), a sound and video installation by Beryl Korot Steve Reich. Based on their celebrated 2002 video opera, Three Tales explores the physical, ethical, and theological implications of expanding technologies. Join Korot and Reich as they discuss this and other collaborative projects. WNYC’s John Schaefer moderates. The exhibition opens October 4 and will remain on view through October 15, 2006.
Conversations on Art: Interdisciplinary takes on key issues in American art and culture.

A celebration of the composer’s seventieth birthday at the Whitney Museum of American Art

On Sunday, October 15, the Whitney presents a birthday tribute with four hours of Steve Reich’s music performed by Alarm Will Sound, PRISM Saxophone Quartet, So Percussion, and Manhattan School of Music Contemporary Ensemble TACTUS, Ransom Wilson and Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth.
Free with Museum admission. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
