The Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching), Jane Gavan will be in Pittsburgh in October presenting a paper at the Society for the History of Technology annual meeting on “Art and technology” on October 16 in Pittsburgh. Jane will be available for interviews in Pittsburgh on October 15, 9am – 2pm, in Chicago on October 21, 9am – 12pm and in LA on October 23, 9am – 12.30pm. The Director of the SCA Graduate School, Associate Professor Brad Buckley will be in New York during October as a Visiting Scholar at Parsons The New School for Design. He will be launching the anthology Rethinking the Contemporary Art School: The Artist, the PhD and the Academy (NSCAD University Press) which he edited with John Conomos. Current Students and Alumni
SCA students and alumni participate in national and international exhibitions and are regularly appointed to international academic positions. Shaun Gladwell represented Australia in the 2009 Venice Biennale. Marc Newson had a solo show in 2007 at Gagossian Galleries in New York and has been appointed Royal Designer for Industry in the UK. David Haines and Joyce Hinterding represented Australia at the 2004 Bienal de Sao Paulo and they recently received the award of Distinction in the Hybrid arts category in the 2009 Prix Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria. Ben Quilty has won the Doug Moran Portrait Prize, valued at 150,000 Aus. Tony Schwensen has been appointed to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Associate Professor Simone Douglas is the Director of the MFA in Fine Arts at Parsons The New School for Design.

The faculty at SCA is highly active across a wide range of contemporary areas from new media, installation and painting, and object design to twentieth century art history and cultural theory. SCA academic staff include; Professor Colin Rhodes; Professor Richard Dunn; Professor Ross Gibson; Associate Professor Brad Buckley; Associate Professor Merilyn Fairskye; Dr Debra Dawes; Dr Lindy Lee; Dr Adam Geczy; Dr Ann Elias; Dr Karin Findeis, Dr Eril Baily and Dr Danie Mellor.
