Sara Deraedt | Benjamin HirteThe exhibition presents recent works by Sara Deraedt and Benjamin Hirte, confronting two approaches that, despite all methodical and formal differences, share an interest in how normality is constructed. Formats such as folder, leaflet, and poster provide Deraedt with the means to publish the material of her researches or photographic works and to again and again re-connote or deprive them of their meaning and appearance. Hirte’s installations and sculptures unfold situations whose astoundingly experimental understanding of space with its partially functional references seems to hint at the possibility of new, not only aesthetic life contexts.
Heine Thorhauge Mathiasen
Heine Thorhauge Mathiasen’s works strike a note consistently seeking to keep a subtle and unstable balance between conceptual and referential aspects and motifs on the one hand and their opening and programmatic subversion by means of emotional, absurd, and obsessive moments on the other.
Astrid Wagner
As in her research on Anton Schweighofer’s “Stadt des Kindes” (Child City) and its architecture, Astrid Wagner’s work focuses on the complex contexts between building forms, the use of certain materials in public space, and the social and didactic programs connected with it. Her multipartite and manifold collages also question which politics and politics of identity present-day visual media spaces imply.
