Professor of Fine Art with a specialization in the field of painting / drawingAssessment criteria
This is a full-time post, which includes allocated time for independently driven artistic research projects. The maximum duration of the post is 5 years. The Royal Institute of Art has the right to extend the duration by up to 5 additional years without declaring the post vacant. Duties will begin in the autumn of 2011.

Doctoral position (PhD)
Within the framework of Konstnärliga Forskarskolan (a Swedish national research school in the field of arts, www.konstnarligaforskarskolan.se), the Royal Institute of Art advertises a doctoral position with the theme of “Urbanism” explored from a practice-led artistic research perspective. The research programme offers four years of research time (240 ECTS-credits) and leads to the award “PhD in Visual Art”. The call for application targets experienced artists, architects, and other cultural practitioners who are interested in exploring issues related to the city as a spatial, cultural, socio-political and economical phenomenon. Urbanism can here be understood as practical and theoretical explorations of the spatial and social structures that can be found within an urban milieu, and also those movements and constant negotiations that happen within a city or at its borders. Urbanism may also mean questions surrounding places that stand in a relation to a city and which are influenced by it. However, the theme should be interpreted freely and the Royal Institute of Art is not emphasizing any particular artistic medium or strand of practice. It is up to the applicant to identify and formulate his/her own entry to the theme of Urbanism. The condition is that the investigation should be made from an artistic research perspective.
