Much can be said about the graduate student’s journey. In many respects it is a metaphorical hero’s journey into new, unfamiliar, even mythical territory that is somewhat removed from the outside world and the market’s critical gaze. While demons and monsters aren’t really out there to be conquered, the initial faculty review and the periodic trauma of critique are actual obstacles that must be overcome. The integration of practice and theory is one of the ideal end results. Another outcome to strive for is a stronger, more resilient internal compass honed to a new vernacular of cultural production.
Such a rapid transformation in so short a time is hard to imagine, but the graduation season is upon us, and California College of the Arts is happy to announce that its 2011 graduate students have met and surpassed every expectation. The public is invited to attend the many on-campus events—symposia, exhibitions, final reviews, and more—that mark the culmination of their MFA, MArch, MA, and MBA degrees.

About California College of the Arts
Founded in 1907, California College of the Arts (CCA) is noted for the interdisciplinarity and breadth of its programs.
