IDSVA provides doctoral studies in philosophy, aesthetics, and art theory to visual artists, and to architects, curators, and scholars who approach their work as a creative practice. IDSVA’s three-year course of study blends distance learning with intensive residencies at Spannocchia Castle in Tuscany, the Venice Biennale, Paris, Berlin, New York City, and on the campus of Brown University.
Program: IDSVA students work with internationally renowned artists and thinkers. Sequentially designed residency seminars transition to seminar teleconferencing, Skype tutorials, and online study group collaboration. A parallel, more personalized mode of inquiry is pursued through self-designed, faculty-directed independent studies.
