The Department of Art History at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for a Director of Museum and Exhibition Studies with a full-time nine-month appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (non-tenure track) beginning August 2012. Responsibilities will be direction and coordination of all aspects of the Museum and Exhibition Studies program in addition to teaching two courses a year, supervising MA theses, papers and projects, and possibly serving on doctoral dissertation committees. This position will include working collaboratively with the social justice exhibitions and projects at the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, and the cutting edge exhibitions and programs of contemporary art, design and architecture at Gallery 400, two of the institutions that anchor the MA program.
Qualifications:
Professional museum and/or curatorial experience and a Master’s degree in art history or related field (PhD preferred) are required. Teaching experience is strongly preferred.
