The Continuing Education Track Program is designed to help students develop their photographic vision and technical proficiency and to produce a strong body of work for the purpose of pursuing a degree or certificate program or the opportunity to engage more seriously with their photographic practice, whether their motive is personal or professional.
The program provides students with a faculty advisor and a strategic sequence of classes drawn from our Continuing Education offerings. Each cycle emphasizes skills, mastery, style, vision, technique, and critique. Our objective is to provide students with a flexible yet structured program that complements their specific goals and interests.
“My personal hope is to provide an academic environment for those who want more from photography, but don’t know how to go about getting it. An interest in photography unites all of the students who enroll at ICP, and each student stands at a precipice of self-discovery,” says Ben Gest, one of the instructors of the Continuing Education Track Seminar, which is a foundation course for all students in the program.
The program consists of eight classes, including three core seminar classes, which are taught over the course of three consecutive terms. The faculty advisor/seminar leader develops the curriculum for the core seminar classes and assists students in defining a series of classes that best reflect their interests, personal direction, and goals. Upon completion of classes, each student receives a certificate of proficiency.
