An important part of the creative process is taking time for renewal. Whether you are ready to explore a life-long passion, looking for inspiration or eager to take on a new challenge, SVA has a program designed to help you develop your creativity while experiencing another culture. Join us this summer to see the world, invest in your talent and get inspired.

The Artist’s Journal: Istanbul
Faculty: Peter Hristoff
May 29–June 17
Istanbul, one of the world’s oldest and most vibrant cultural hubs, is a city steeped in history and a favored destination of many travelers. This program combines the invaluable experience of travel with the practice of keeping a visual journal. Daily drawing from observation enhances an exploration of all that Istanbul offers, from the Imperial mosques and palaces, the Spice Market and the Covered Bazaar to rooftop lounges and the waterside café of the Istanbul Modern.

Cinema in Italy
Faculty: Paolo Braga, Mara Perbellini, Elisa Zambarbier
June 17–30
The legendary Italian cities of Rome and Milan serve as the backdrop for an in-depth exploration of Italian cinema from the mid-20th century to the present day. Participants will collaborate with prominent Italian film and television professionals as they work their craft through director-actor workshops, enjoy exclusive screenings and lectures on the history of Italian cinema with distinguished faculty from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and visit major studios and film sets.

Painting in Barcelona
Faculty: Tom Carr and Carme Miquel
June 27–July 14
Barcelona, the city on the Mediterranean that inspired Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Antonio Tàpies, is a place where the arts have long flourished and rich cultural heritages converged. Working in the spacious and light-filled studios of the Escola d’Arts Plastique i Disseny under the guidance of distinguished faculty, participants will find an environment conducive to exploring new directions in their painting and expanding their artistic vision.
