School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents the MFA Computer Art Open Studios 2012, bringing together multidisciplinary projects from our graduating students. The event will be open to the public on April 26 through April 28 at the MFA Computer Art Studio, 133-141 West 21st Street, between 6th and 7th Aves., 12th floor, New York City.
The creative work encompasses a wide range of media including video, animation, audio, interactive installations and physical computing. “As digital art evolves, the line between it and contemporary art is disappearing. We see it simply as art, using digital techniques to enable creativity.” states department chair Bruce Wands.

The MFA Computer Art Studio is shared among students interested in building interactive, multidisciplinary and installation art projects. The space also includes a workshop/classroom for students to construct their work.

The MFA Computer Art Department emphasizes creative experimentation and a multidisciplinary approach. Dedicated to producing digital artists of the highest caliber, the department guides each student in the development of a personal artistic style and a course of study that is individually tailored to meet his/her needs. The program also offers concentrations in animation, motion graphics/digital video, installation and digital fine art, interactive media, sound art and performance.
School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City is an established leader and innovator in the education of artists. From its inception in 1947, the faculty has been comprised of professionals working in the arts and art-related fields. SVA provides an environment that nurtures creativity, inventiveness and experimentation, enabling students to develop a strong sense of identity and a clear direction of purpose.
