Liverpool John Moores University’s School of Art and Design has opportunities for Lectureships/Senior Lectureships in partnership with Tate Liverpool, FACT and Liverpool Biennial.
The three posts present a unique opportunity for exceptional individuals to develop innovative and productive teaching and research activity by exploiting the synergies between academia and creative industries. They will sit within the School’s Art and Design Research Centre and will enhance and consolidate research between Liverpool School of Art and Design and some of Liverpool’s most significant cultural organisations.
Successful applicants will be based between LJMU and the relevant partner organisation. In addition to the duties undertaken at each institution, post holders will facilitate dialogue and collaboration between the other institutions holding cognate posts and with the broader cultural sector.
Research in the school is managed under the Art and Design Research Centre (ADRC) and exists at the forefront of staff and students’ creative practice. Art and Design has been successfully entered into all RAEs since the inception of the scheme and has consistently achieved HEFCE RAE funding.
The RAE2008 recognised the output of the ADRC as:
75% internationally excellent/significant
25% nationally significant
100% internationally excellent/significant research environment
Art and Design research has focused on contemporary issues and ideas in international art practice, curatorial practice and related histories and theories through exhibitions and publications, conferences, events, and fellowships. Pedagogic research has also emerged and collaboration with internationally renowned researchers is a continuing theme identified in the work of several staff. These significant developments have led to international partnerships, innovative creative practice and substantive historical and theoretical work which support a well-defined strategy for Art and Design research.
