Apply to the Strelka Institute in Moscow
Enrollment deadline: 1 August 2012
Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design is an international educational project with a curriculum designed by Rem Koolhaas/AMO. Strelka provides one year research-based education, as well as hosts a variety of public lectures, seminars, and workshops at its campuses in downtown Moscow, consults on urban development and publishes books on urbanism, design, media, and architecture.
Strelka’s 9-month educational program is in English and has a special focus on the city. Students are encouraged to work on projects, merging cross-disciplinary research and integrated design and focusing on one of the four or five themes that explore diverse perspectives on the city and vary year by year. In the past, these themes included Preservation, Public Space, Thinning, Urban Culture, Hinterland, Megacity, and others.
Strelka is consistently looking for post-graduates and young professionals under 35 from anywhere in the world with the right drive to make positive change happen, which requires curiosity and conceptual thinking, teamwork and self responsibility, energy and risk taking, visualization and articulation skills. Higher education and fluency in English are a must!
We promote diversity and welcome applicants of all professions but have a strong interest in students with background in architecture, urbanism, and design. We fast-track applicants with work experience (>2 years) and we are particularly interested in students who demonstrate great initiative through extra-curricular activities. Applying to Strelka is about challenging your own ideas of what education should be. Strelka is not accredited and does not offer a state diploma. What it does offer is a unique opportunity for those interested to be involved in the projects that change the landscape of cities anywhere in the world and who want to turn their interest into their calling.
