The MFA in Visual Arts low-residency program, offered by The Art Institute of Boston (AIB) at Lesley University, provides the ideal solution for artists, teachers, and professionals in related fields who are seeking professional advancement in the field of visual arts. The MFA program allows students, with the guidance of a faculty advisor and a local studio mentor, to design their own studio and academic plans for each semester.

dOCUMENTA (13)—an international exhibition in Kassel, Germany from June 9 to September 16, 2012 featuring the work of over 160 artists from around the world. Judith Barry, Director of MFA in Visual Arts Program is participating in dOCUMENTA (13) along with Faculty member, Cesare Pietrousti, in addition to MFA Mentors Sam Durant, Joan Jonas, and Michael Rakowitz, and MFA in Visual Arts candidate Andrew Yang in collaboration with Christa Donner as part of the “The Worldly House,” curated by Tue Greenfort.
Liz Deschenes, MFA Visiting Professor Faculty is included in the Whitney Biennial 2012.
Fia Backström, MFA in Visual Arts Faculty represented Sweden in the Venice Biennial 2011.
Aris Moore, MFA in Visual Arts ’12 is exhibiting at the Jack Hanley Gallery, NYC from September 7 to September 29.
Amanda Nelsen, MFA in Visual Arts ’08, and Alison Williams, MFA in Visual Arts ’09
For two consecutive years, an AIB MFA student has won the prestigious Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, awarded to only 10–15 graduating MFA students in painting and sculpture nationwide. Amanda Nelsen received the grant in 2008, and Alison Williams, in 2009
