A discipline of the senses is pursued.
Mildred’s Lane is a rustic, 96-acre site deep in the woods of rural northeastern Pennsylvania, in the upper Delaware River Valley bordering New York State. It is an ongoing collaboration between J. Morgan Puett, Mark Dion, their son Grey Rabbit Puett, and their friends and colleagues. It is a home and an experiment in living. Mildred’s Lane attempts to coevolve a rigorous pedagogical strategy, where a working-living-researching environment has been developed to foster engagement with every aspect of life. This unusual situation affords participants the ability to collaborate in the production of large-scale, socially charged, research-driven projects within a truly transdisciplinary environment.

The Mildred Complex(ity) is a studio and experimental retail storefront just off Main Street, in Narrowsburg, New York. This making-thinking-researching-doing environment is the site and beginning of many collaborative projects proposed by the creative practitioners of Mildred’s Lane, concerning the new dynamics of sociality and exchange in the public sphere. The Mildred Complex(ity) projects, workshops and performances are free and open to the public.

Fellowships
Each year we welcome fellows of all ages, backgrounds, and from all over the world. For individuals interested in attending, application is a straightforward process. We ask that you fill out a simple form and include an essay (two–five pages) explaining your reasons for wanting to attend and a portfolio of your current work (digital format only). We welcome and encourage fellows to seek sponsorship from their school or institution, if they are studying, but institutional association is not a requirement.

Institutional Partnerships
Mildred’s Lane hosts a rare and prestigious intensive curriculum that is seeking to co-evolve institutional relationships. We wish to work with schools to co-develop courses of study as intensive residency programs at Mildred’s Lane that fit into an on-going curriculum.

We currently have partnerships with institutions around the world that regularly award and sponsor fellows to attend the summer sessions or collaboratively produce intensive study programs throughout the academic year. In order to find out how to become a sending institution and form a partnership with Mildred’s Lane, simply email us.
