Escola São Paulo is launching its third educational program (PIESP) for artists and curators developing research, and projects in the visual arts.
A group of up to 16 artists and curators will be selected to participate in the program from August 2013 through June 2014. The program aims to expand participants’ critical and investigative tools, considering it an urgent matter at a time of growth of Brazilian contemporary art market. The momentum calls for a critical review of concepts and critiques of current modus operandi.
PIESP offers a diversified approach to individual production through dialogue with various interlocutors, contact with different points of view and direct exchange with outstanding professionals in the field. The program was conceived by its director, Adriano Pedrosa, who also created in 2002 the Independent Program of the Museu de Arte da Pampulha in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Interlocutors include Ana Paula Cohen, Rodrigo Moura, Rivane Neuenschwander, Carla Zaccagnini, Marcos Moraes, and Maurício Dias.
The main activity of PIESP is its weekly critical seminar at which each participant presents their processes and production for discussion with the group, led by the main interlocutors (Ana Paula Cohen, first semester, Adriano Pedrosa, second semester). PIESP also includes lectures and one-to-one meetings with interlocutors, formed by a group of prominent artists, critics and curators, active in the Brazilian and international art scene.
A selection process will be held based on analyzing portfolios and interviews. The deadline to apply is July 30, 2013.
