Applications are invited for two Research Residencies in Art Writing. The Residencies are supported by ECA’s School of Art and Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, each lasting one month and taking place during ECA’s first and second semesters in the academic year 2013–14. The first residency will be in November 2013 and the second in April 2014.
Edinburgh College of Art’s mission is to promote critical inquiry through scholarly research, learning, teaching and education in creative practice. Within this context the Residencies demonstrate the School of Art’s commitment to practice-based research, offering the opportunity for two individuals to focus intensively on their own work for a one-month period. The Residencies are open to national and international, emerging and established art writers, working in an expanded field.
Each Research Resident in Art Writing will be invited to participate in a public ‘in-conversation’ event with Maria Fusco, Chancellor’s Fellow at Edinburgh College of Art, and to deliver a lecture and one day’s teaching during the period of the residency.
In support of each residency, each Research Resident will:
–Have use of an apartment in Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop
–Be awarded a stipend of 1,000 GBP
–Be eligible to apply for travel expenses for one return journey to Edinburgh
