Pratt Institute’s School of Art and Design will present lectures by renowned individuals through its Digital Arts, Fashion, Film/Video, Fine Arts, and Photography departments. All lectures will take place on Pratt’s Brooklyn campus and are free and open to the public; however, seating priority will be given to current students with Pratt identification.

Highlights include:

Eileen Quinlan, a self-described still life photographer and New Photography 2013 exhibiting artist (opens 9/14 at the Museum of Modern Art) who uses analog methods of photography to capture intricate, abstract constructions (9/25, Photography Department)

Tom Sachs, a sculptor known for his elaborate recreations and transformations of modern icons of capitalist culture (9/30, Fine Arts Department)

Jeremy Gardiner, an award-winning digital media artist whose work interprets landscapes through geology, human activity, and forces of nature, will deliver a talk titled “Unfolding Landscape” (10/16, Digital Arts Department)

Lee Quinones, one of the most influential artists to emerge from New York City’s subway art movement, will speak about street art and fashion (10/23, Fashion Department)

Life of Pi artist Alexis Rockman and associate producer Jean-Christophe Castelli, and Brett Littman, executive director at The Drawing Center, will participate in a panel discussion moderated by Leighton Pierce, acting dean of the School of Art and Design, on the artwork created for the film Life of Pi (10/29, co-sponsored by the Digital Arts, Fine Arts, and Film/Video Departments)

Sebastián Silva—an award-winning director who was recently named to The New York Times’s “20 Directors to Watch” list—will discuss new work including his feature films Magic Magic and Crystal Fairy (11/21, Film/Video Department)
