The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, invites qualified academics/professionals to apply for a faculty position as Assistant or Associate Professor in Visualisation of Cultural Heritage.
ADM is currently developing a teaching and research focus in Visualisation of Cultural Heritage. As such, applicants from across this expanding field are encouraged to apply, whether from established disciplines such as history, archaeology, and art history, or emerging fields of study, such as spatial history, media arts & sciences, heritage science and cultural geography. In particular, expertise in one or more of the following areas is/are sought:
– Art/Architectural History
– Virtual Heritage
– Digital Visualisation and Representation Technologies
– Virtual Archaeology and Digital Humanities
– Image Processing, Dynamic Monitoring and Structural Analysis of Monuments
Experience in working with digital technologies such as 3D documentation, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial technologies, open software WEB-VRGIS, augmented and virtual reality, would be seen as an advantage.
Recently, in 2013, in collaboration with the Singapore Economic Development Board, ADM/NTU established the Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA). The successful candidate would be expected to play a central role in the academic, research and exhibition activities of the CCA.
Qualifications
A PhD degree (or terminal degree/relevant experience) as well as a strong record of university level teaching, research, supervision and publishing, are desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with:
– expertise in interdisciplinary teaching at the advanced undergraduate and/or graduate level
– record of published research
– previous experience in visualization of cultural heritage
The school
ADM is committed to developing a global program and we welcome applications from candidates with international as well as regional expertise. The successful candidate should be able to engage students historically, socially, and conceptually and inspire imaginative, critical and interdisciplinary reflection across theory and practice. ADM provides excellent opportunities for funded research and the successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research profile, as well as a commitment to teaching and service at undergraduate and graduate levels. This position will also involve administrative duties and committee participation. The school currently offers six BFA degrees and an MA and PhD by research.
ADM is the first comprehensive art school in Singapore. It provides a studio-based professional education in a comprehensive university setting, providing students with the knowledge and skills to develop and produce groundbreaking creative artworks and related scholarly activity. ADM also promotes Singapore’s creative culture and identity, and is positioned to play a central role in the transformation of Singapore into a regional centre of art, art history, media and design.
