Since the establishment of the Master’s in Art Business programme 15 years ago, Sotheby’s Institute of Art has pioneered the field of art business as both a professional and an academic discipline. In 2011 an exciting partnership was formed with publisher Lund Humphries to provide a series of authoritative reference guides to the structure and workings of the international art market. The Handbooks in International Art Business series offers accessible, practical and essential resources with worldwide case studies for professionals working in art businesses globally, and those embarking on their pathway to a career in the commercial art world. Written by experts, many of whom teach on the MA programmes at Sotheby’s Institute in London, New York and Los Angeles, the volumes reflect the continuing professionalization of the art world and the ongoing developments in the industry.
