Under the auspices of the Càtedra Joan Miró-UOC, the online university from Barcelona, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), is pleased to offer an online Postgraduate Diploma in order to promote and disseminate new perspectives on Miró’s work, focusing on both the artist and his cultural environment. These online courses will be designed and taught by a distinguished international faculty of Miró experts.
In addition, students will have access to the resources of the Fundació Joan Miró of Barcelona and its unparalleled archive of over 13,000 drawings and works on paper, letters, documents and the contents of Miró’s personal library.
This course is aimed at:
– Graduates in Fine Arts and Art History
– Graduates in other areas but with interest and training in art
– Art teachers in secondary schools, art schools etc.
– Professionals in cultural centres, exhibition halls, art galleries, auctions houses etc. who wish to further their knowledge of the topics covered in the course
For the first time, this programme provides specialised knowledge of both the national and international contexts for Joan Miró’s life and work.

The Postgraduate Diploma of 30 credits is composed of five compulsory subjects (five ECTS credits) and a required research paper or creative project of five credits. The academic programme is organised into a single itinerary:
– Miró and the 20th Century Art
– Joan Miró and Surrealism
– Joan Miró: Itineraries and Geographies
– Artists, Poets and Writers
– The Reception of Joan Miró
– Postgraduate Research Paper (PRP) or Creative Project
Academic team
Under the direction of Professor Robert S. Lubar of the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and coordinated by Dr. Muriel Gómez of the UOC, this Postgraduate Diploma (30 ECTS credits) has been organised by an internationally recognized group of Miró scholars: Dr. Rémi Labrusse (Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, Paris), Dr. Christopher Green (Courtauld Institute of Fine Arts, London), Dr. Joan Minguet Batllori (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), Dr. Felix Fanés (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), Teresa Montaner (Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona) and Dr. Pepa Balsach (Càtedra d’Art i Cultura Contemporanis, Universitat de Girona).
