MA/MBA in Business and Arts Management
The arts world today needs skilled and resourceful administrators, managers and leaders to meet the challenges of today’s increased financial pressures and unprecedented opportunities.

The SMU MA/MBA, offered jointly by the Cox School of Business and Meadows School of the Arts, meets those challenges by combining the strengths of two top-tier schools in business and arts management. It is based on the philosophy that a successful career in arts management requires a thorough knowledge of contemporary business practices coupled with a deep understanding of the arts and the ability to recognize and seize opportunities.

The MA/MBA provides advanced courses in strategic planning, accounting, marketing, finance, economics, fundraising, statistics, cultural policy, organizational behavior, information technology and legal issues facing the arts, as well as internships and semester-long practica at leading Dallas-area arts organizations. The SMU MA/MBA produces graduate students well prepared to hold leadership positions in arts, entertainment and nonprofit organizations in the United States and around the world.

International experience
To thrive in today’s global marketplace, business leaders must understand the economic, social, political and cultural forces impacting the way business is conducted in different parts of the world. MA/MBA students gain international perspective through the Global Leadership Program and through an exchange semester at SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy, during the second fall semester.
