Elsewhere, a living museum, residency and creative laboratory inside a former thrift store in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina, is now accepting applications and nominations from artists and creatives working across all media, fields and disciplines.

Elsewhere’s three-story museum offers an evolving environment that provides an experimental context for investigating material culture and developing new collaborative approaches. Elsewhere vitalizes its emerging downtown neighborhood and offers an exceptional place for re-thinking process and practice.

The Residency invites emerging individual and collaborative teams to apply for research and project residencies using the museum’s immense 58-year collection of cultural and material surplus.

Southern Constellations offers six paid fellowships for artists based in the Southern United States to participate in Elsewhere’s residency to create new, experimental works at the museum and participate in dialogues on the conditions of experimental art production in the South. Find more info here.

South Elm Projects commissions artists, designers and creatives to create site-specific interventions to re-form four overlooked and undervalued alleys and green spaces in Downtown Greensboro’s South Elm neighborhood. Find more info here.

University retreats engage university classes in arts, literature and urban design in immersive encounters with contemporary and community art practices in Elsewhere’s museum. Retreats are also open to creative organizations and groups. Find more info here.

Internships provide students and graduates exceptional experiences with learning in action. Interns support the nonprofit’s organizational, artistic and community-based projects. Find more info here.

Elsewhere is funded in part by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, ArtPlace America, The Kresge Foundation, The National Endowment for the Arts, The North Carolina Arts Council, ArtsGreensboro, Tannenbaum Sternberger Foundation, The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, The Fund for Democratic Communities, The Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation, Guilford Green Foundation, The Harpo Foundation, The Gallucci Creative Fund, Lincoln Financial Foundation, Art Matters & friends like you.
