SMU Meadows School of the Arts and the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Austin are proud to present two conversations between Charles Esche and Franklin Sirmans.
Charles Esche was the curator of the 31st São Paulo Biennial, along with with Galit Eilat, Pablo Lafuente, Nuria Enguita Mayo and Oren Sagiv, and is also the Director of the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Franklin Sirmans is the Artistic Director of Prospect.3 in New Orleans and is also Curator of Contemporary Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
The conversations will compare the approaches that each of them took on their respective biennials, paying close attention to the intersection of local and global contexts.
