The International Leadership Program in Visual Arts Management (ILPVAM) is an advanced art and business executive certificate program offered by three leading institutions with specialties in visual arts, global markets, and business management.

ILPVAM is designed to advance the development and training of visual arts professionals through study and discussion of the best management practices along with global trends affecting the sector. The Program also seeks to create the time and space needed for analysis and reflection that will generate more effective responses to current and future challenges facing the visual arts. ILPVAM provides an opportunity to widen and deepen international networks of colleagues and potential collaborators.

The Program includes two eight-day modules taught in English over five months, in Bilbao and New York:

Module 1
Bilbao: June 2–9, 2015 (site visit to Madrid included)
“Understanding the Environment: Global Trends and Strategic Vision”

Module 2
New York: October 2–9, 2015
“Leadership in the Global Art Sector”

The program is aimed at professionals with a minimum of five years relevant experience from the visual arts and related sectors. This includes individuals employed by museums, government cultural departments, cultural agencies, galleries and art exhibitions, private and corporate cultural foundations, as well as those working in media and communications, along with entrepreneurs and consultants who specialize in the cultural industry.

Previous ILPVAM participants represented professionals from across five continents and reflected a diversity of approaches and specializations. They included directors and managers of museums, private and public cultural agencies and foundations, curators, exhibition and project managers, asset advisors specialized in art, and professionals in the field of communications, both within institutions and more generally from the media sector.

“I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to acquire understanding of current global trends in the visual art sector. The strength of this program is the access it provides to museum professionals and issues.”
– Managing Director, Contemporary Culture, Royal Ontario Museum

“Working with classmates from around the world has enabled me to broaden my horizons, and get to know the differences and similarities we all face.”
– Project Manager, Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government

Completion of the two modules leads to the award of a Program Certificate by the University of Deusto and New York University.

Tuition Fee: 6,880 euro
5% early bird discount for applications received by April 2
Final application deadline is May 4.
