Stockholm University of the Arts (Uniarts) is a leading arena for innovative, exploratory education and artistic research. We offer Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes as well as postgraduate education in circus, dance, film, media, opera and performing arts. Artistic research is a central focus, extending knowledge boundaries within the artistic disciplines and constituting a dynamic force for the progress of art and its impact on social development. Stockholm University of the Arts was inaugurated on 1 January 2014 when the School of Dance and Circus (DOCH), the University College of Opera, and Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts merged. Our aim is to become Sweden’s first arts university. The school, with approximately five hundred students and two hundred and fifty employees, is located across four educational sites in central Stockholm.
Uniarts is now seeking applicants for three positions of Professors in the disciplines Choreography, Film and Media, Opera or Performing Arts in relation to the following profile areas:
– Concept and Composition
– Site, Event, Encounter
– Art, Technology, Materiality
Profile areas
In order to create a dynamic, active and critical research environment, four profile areas have been established. These profile areas make up a series of strategic drives to develop research in thematically organised areas. They are not necessarily attached to research subjects or artistic areas and disciplines, but are primarily characterised by a cross- or transdisciplinary effort.
Here is a brief description of each profile area, with a link to more information and application.
Concept and Composition
This profile area highlights and articulates questions around the initiation, formation, implementation and documentation of creative and artistic processes. The formation of ideas and terminology, dramaturgy/narrative structures, interpretation, methodologies and documentation are key concepts, as are the area’s overarching critical terms—concept and composition—which are understood and activated in the widest possible sense.

The focus is on the changing relationships and processes that develop between different performers and participants in artistic practices and events. Research in scenographic and design-related methodologies is included, as are investigations of events and meetings in physical and media spaces.
