Weegee: Murder Is My Business
Gangland murders, gruesome car crashes, and perilous tenement fires—these were some of the dramatic subjects that animated the work of freelance photojournalist Weegee (1899–1968). Working in New York City from 1936 to 1947, the legendary cameraman created some of the most graphic and sensationalistic photographs of crimes and news events ever seen, setting the standard for what has since become known as tabloid journalism. Weegee: Murder is My Business travels to the RIC from New York’s International Center of Photography (ICP). This exhibition was made possible with support from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the ICP Exhibitions Committee and The David Berg Foundation. The video content was produced by Documentary Arts in association with Octothorp Studio.

Jorge Lozano: MOVING STILL_still life
October 14–December 13
Through candid interviews and imagery, Jorge Lozano’s eight-channel video installation weaves a complex portrait about the harsh realities of daily life in Siloé, a suburb of Cali, Colombia afflicted with chronic violence.

William Davis and Michael Markieta: Geographies of Urban Form
October 14–November 8
Through images composed solely of the major road networks comprising important cities, the exhibition illuminates how various metropolises have been settled.
