Visuals have roots.
Studio Art Centers International is pleased to announce that students can apply now for Fall 2016 admission to SACI’s two-year MFA in Communication Design program in Florence, Italy, accredited by NASAD. For detailed information about the curriculum and other special features of the program, please click here.
SACI’s MFA in Communication Design students have the unique opportunity to research the roots of Western visual conventions through direct experience of the extraordinary Italian artistic heritage while living in a country that is at the cutting edge of Communication Design innovation.
They pursue a curriculum which integrates practical and critical skills that encourages individual innovation and creative collaboration. They attend SACI in Florence for two successive academic years and earn 60 credits.
In their graduate seminars, students explore a range of contemporary communication design practices, visit designers in their studios, and meet curators, critics, and other significant figures in the art and design worlds. They attend international art and design fairs and are encouraged, through individual practice and group critiques, to explore to the fullest their potential as communication designers.
During their first year, they put together a program that balances independent study with classroom study. In their second year, emphasis is placed upon career options for emerging communication designers. Students gain practical experience as SACI Teaching Assistants and undertake design internships in Tuscan design firms.
By exploiting fully the advantages available to emerging communication designers through advanced study in Italy, SACI MFA students can become highly competitive when pursuing careers in Communication Design and university-level teaching.
