Each spring the graduating class from The Ohio State University’s MFA program has a group thesis exhibition at Urban Art Space, OSU’s large exhibition space in downtown Columbus. Faced with the knowledge that most titles for group thesis exhibitions are terrible, the students this year have created a website that generates a new title every 28.26666666666667 seconds (the average of their collective ages). Please visit www.notitleanytitle.com for any number of possible titles for the exhibition.
The Ohio State University Department of Art offers the MFA in Visual Arts with an emphasis in our seven studio areas: Art and Technology, Ceramics, Glass, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. The regular graduate faculty is augmented each year by visiting artists, critics, and curators who engage in critical discourse and discussion with graduate students. We strive to provide a nurturing and mentoring environment for graduate students, and we expect much from them as producing studio artists, effective teachers, and colleagues. Our students are professionally engaged and often exhibit their work and attend professional conferences and symposia in their disciplines. The department provides competitive financial support and encouragement to expand this activity. Most students accepted into the MFA Program are funded with a stipend and tuition waiver. These appointments may include teaching introductory courses, assisting in department labs and working for galleries in the University.
