The Office of Graduate Studies at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) announces three full-time faculty positions. Ideal candidates will be distinguished professionals who promote practice-based learning, new theoretical frameworks for the creative fields, and commitment to equity and diversity in teaching, service, leadership and practice.

20 graduate programs at MICA consistently explore the range and potential of a breadth of creative fields including social design, curatorial practice, critical studies, fine art, film and business. Faculty and students come together across these programs through a dynamic offering of shared coursework, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, events and activities. This vibrant and collaborative graduate community welcomes applications from faculty candidates who will develop innovative professionally-oriented student-centered programs that transcend traditional disciplines and embrace opportunities for positive social change.

Located in Baltimore, MICA is committed to an expanded understanding of the role of creative citizens in communities and unique approaches to cross-cultural, economic, and political contexts and partnerships. MICA accelerates the knowledge, skills, habits and work of creatives who are self-reflexive, visionary and entrepreneurial. MICA students, faculty and staff are recognized internationally for imagination and significant cultural contributions to the Baltimore community and the world.

These three faculty positions will advance the mission of the college by building community and scholarship.

Open faculty positions:
Director and Graduate Faculty, Curatorial Practice MFA 
MICA’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Curatorial Practice prepares students to expand the role curators play in creating a vibrant cultural life in 21st century global society. This innovative graduate program is currently seeking a successful candidate committed to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the field and crafting curricula, experiences and projects that empower students to contribute to rethinking the future and function of curating. The successful candidate will synthesize the theoretical, historical, social and experiential dimensions of curating and engage with new technologies, media, and emerging subject areas that contribute to the ways curators sustain audiences.

Graduate Faculty, Social Design MA
The Master of Arts in Social Design (MASD), a one-year, interdisciplinary, practice-based graduate program prepares aspiring social designers to understand and address the challenges facing society. This ambitious graduate program is currently seeking a successful candidate who has significant experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, establishing collaborative projects in educational contexts and engaging stakeholders and communities that represent diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a leader in design thinking, design practice and design research.

Graduate English Language Learning Specialist 
Every year, students from all over the world apply to MICA and make rich and vital contributions to the cultural diversity of our graduate community. MICA Graduate Studies is currently seeking a candidate with professional experience in designing arts-based curricula for English Language Learners. The successful candidate will contribute to a comprehensive program of culturally sensitive curricular and co-curricular activities to support international students actively pursuing language development alongside their artistic and creative development.
