The College of Arts, Media, and Design (CAMD) at Northeastern University announces the launch of a new MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts. Emphasizing emerging forms of public practice at the intersection of the visual and media arts, architecture, music, and the expanded field of design, our two-year curriculum supports the development of ambitious projects by a diverse, international group of creative practitioners. We equip students from a range of backgrounds to use the tools and insights of contemporary creative practice to intervene in public discourse and to shape the future of their communities.
Unparalled experiential education opportunities distinguish a Northeastern education, and the Arts of Engagement is no exception. Workshops with visiting faculty emphasize meaningful, hands-on involvement in the creative process of leading artists. Our art history and critical studies courses work directly within Boston’s rich cultural infrastructure, affording opportunities to produce events, curate, and publish alongside major figures in the field. We encourage students to use the summer between their first and second years to complete site-based projects in their hometowns or in partnership residencies around the world.
Recent CAMD visiting artists/speakers
Lev Manovich, Renee Green, Sam Auinger + Bruce Odland, Sara VanDerBeek, Tim Miller, Kate Orff, Candy Chang, Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, Favianna Rodriguez, Oh Heck Yeah
