The Royal College of Art, the world’s #1 university of art & design, has confirmed that it will be represented at the 104th annual CAA conference by Professors Juan Cruz and Jane Pavitt, Deans of the Schools of Fine Art and Humanities respectively.
Featured in Art & Education’s influential School Watch, this will be the College’s first official presence at the world’s biggest visual arts conference.
The London-based, wholly postgraduate art and design university has a global reputation for world-leading research and for the high quality of learning it offers. Recent RCA appointments include Jane Wilson, Oron Catts, Ionat Zurr and Adrian Lahoud. With a student body of 1,500, the College has over 250 academic staff and some 800 visiting academics, practitioners and theorists. It attracts students from 65 countries, including the USA and Canada.
Professor Naren Barfield, Pro Rector of the Royal College of Art, said: “RCA academics have presented at CAA many times in the past, and we have decided to take the opportunity to expand on this, and it is the first time that the College will have an official institutional presence. This is a highly significant moment for the RCA, and marks our desire, as part of our internationalisation strategy and ever greater collaboration, to work even more closely with North American institutions, along with their scholars and students.”
Professor Jane Pavitt and Professor Juan Cruz will be available to talk about study opportunities at the RCA, and also to offer advice on portfolios and applications to the College’s 24 two-year master’s programmes, and its MPhil and PhD research degrees.
New for 2016 entry
They will also be on hand to introduce the College’s forthcoming one-year MRes master’s programme, with four pathways in the Schools of: Humanities; Fine Art; Communication; and Design.
Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss academic and pastoral issues related to studying an MA or Research degree at the RCA with the deans, along with School philosophies, curricula and application guidance.
