The Royal Academy of Art The Hague is now inviting applications for its Master Artistic Research.

The Master Artistic Research is a two-year interdisciplinary master’s, and is a collaboration between the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and the Royal Conservatoire (KC), both in The Hague. The course is based in the art academy and within fine arts discourse, with an emphasis on the voice and performativity in their broadest sense.

We are interested in applicants from a wide range of art backgrounds, who have a special interest in artistic ways of exploring research interests. You will be guided in exploring the concepts and theories that help develop a deeper understanding of your work, and regular research groups will focus attention on the theory and history of relevant subjects. In the studio, you will be encouraged to embrace the unpredictable and complex in what you do, and to find new ways to merge the many strands of a research based practice.

The course is taught by artists, for artists, and welcomes applicants looking for an intensive, full-time commitment, and who can show a demonstrable affinity for both theoretical research and artistic reflection. The working language of the programme is English, and proficiency in both speaking and writing is required.

Head of programme: Janice McNab
Tutors: Jasper Coppes, Yael Davids, Sher Doruff, Frank Mandersloot, Katarina Zdjelar
Previous guest tutors include: Aernout Mik, Lorenzo Benedetti, Andrea Fraser, Rory Pilgrim, Maria Hlavajova, Francesco Bernadelli
