HOME and Lo Schermo dell’Arte Film Festival are delighted to announce the second edition of Feature Expanded, a unique training programme designed to support visual artists who want to make a feature length film intended for a cinematic context. Feature Expanded provides a uniquely tailored set of activities responding to the important trend of visual artists pairing their new vision and strong innovation with feature film production.
Feature Expanded takes place over six months, starting with an intensive residential at HOME in Manchester, June 22–27. The programme combines masterclasses, case studies, workshops, screenings, individual tutorials, pitching training and online follow up, culminating in a second residential during Lo Schermo dell’Arte Film Festival in Florence, November 16–20.
The course is directed by Leonardo Bigazzi and Professor Sarah Perks with experts from across the film and visual art world including pitching expert Sibylle Kurz, screenwriter and script consultant Marietta von Hausswolff von Baumgarten and producers Samm Haillay and Jacqui Davies.
Participants will be expected to have a proven academic or practical background in contemporary visual arts and significant experience of short film production and/or moving image practice. The course costs 2,500 EUR full price, with five bursaries available. Cost includes food and accommodation both in Florence and Manchester. There are 12 places available. For further information please visit www.featureexpanded.com.
“I went from having an idea to having a film. I now have no doubt in my mind that I will now go on to make this film. Feature Expanded is a unique platform as it offers guidance and support without compromising the filmmakers vision. Author vision and authenticity is celebrated! I would absolutely recommend this to any artist/filmmaker who is looking to develop their first feature film.”
