School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents the MFA Computer Art open studios 2016, bringing together multidisciplinary projects from our graduating students. The event will be open to the public on April 7 and 8 at the MFA Computer Art Studio.
The creative work encompasses a wide range of media including prints, games, video, animation, audio, and physical computing. “As digital art evolves, the line between it and contemporary art is disappearing. We see it as fine art combining digital and traditional art techniques,” states department chair Bruce Wands.
Exhibiting artists:
Yuxi Cao, Wengu Hu, Nakyung Lee, Tomonari Michigami, Yunling Song
The MFA Computer Art Studio is shared among students interested in building interactive, multidisciplinary and installation art projects. The space also includes a workshop/classroom for students to construct their work.
The MFA Computer Art Department emphasizes creative experimentation and a multidisciplinary approach to making art with computers and emerging technologies. Dedicated to producing digital artists of the highest caliber, the department guides each student in the development of a personal artistic style in a course of study that is individually tailored to meet his or her interests. Students come from around the world to study in this two-year, 60-credit MFA degree program, which has distinguished itself with eight Student Academy Awards.
