PNCA presents its annual thesis exhibitions showing the work of undergraduate and graduate students from May 22 through June 17. There will be an opening reception on May 22 from 6 to 9pm.
The BFA thesis exhibition in our main building will feature work by nearly 62 graduating seniors whose projects range from creating a mobile print studio in a cherry red trailer to a video-mapped installation in our Mediatheque, large scale ceramic sculptures in a project based on the connections between the sense of smell and memory, a conceptual clothing line, and everything in between. These are projects from seniors in the ten concentrations of our four majors: Design Arts, Media Arts, Studio Arts, and Liberal Arts. Visitors will see paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, graphic novels, UI design projects, artist’s publications, videos, and installations.
The MFA in Visual Studies thesis exhibition with works by 15 graduating students will be held just blocks away at 724 NW Davis.
MFA in Print Media’s first graduating class will show their Capstone projects that developed out of two years of intense focus from both independent studio practice as well as group collaborations. The exhibition features installations, video, traditional printed material, and a full range of techniques. This takes place alongside thesis projects by four students graduating from MFA in Collaborative Design in the Dorothy Lemelson Innovation Studio in our main building.
Candidates in the MFA in Applied Craft and Design program, jointly offered with Oregon College of Art and Craft, will present work at the Bison Building at 421 NE 10th with an opening on May 22 from 6 to 9pm. That exhibition runs through June 5. LIMITED TIME ONLY features the work of 12 artists, designers, and craftspeople, each bringing different perspectives and a multidisciplinary approach to making.
