The International Leadership Program in Visual Arts Management (ILPVAM) is a unique executive certificate program for visual arts administrators. The program includes two intensive five-day modules in Bilbao and New York, and is taught in English. Classroom sessions will include high profile guest speakers and will be supplemented by site visits to museums in both cities.
Module 1
Bilbao: November 7–11, 2016
Understanding the Environment: Global Trends and Strategic Vision
Module 2
New York: March 13–17, 2017
Leadership in the Global Art Sector
ILPVAM offers a global scope and local knowledge of markets, a high-level forum for debate, discussion, and engagement with an international network of senior practitioners and experts, and international networking as key elements in the development of knowledge among participants.
The program is aimed at professionals with a minimum of five years relevant experience from the visual arts and related sectors. Previous ILPVAM participants have represented professionals from across five continents, reflecting a diversity of approaches and specializations. They have included directors and managers of museums, private and public cultural agencies, and foundations; curators; exhibition and project managers; asset advisors specialized in art; and professionals in the field of communications, both within institutions and more generally from the media sector.
“I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to acquire understanding of current global trends in the visual art sector. The strength of this program is the access it provides to museum professionals and issues.” –Managing Director, Contemporary Culture, Royal Ontario Museum
“Working with classmates from around the world has enabled me to broaden my horizons, and get to know the differences and similarities we all face.” –Project Manager, Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government
