Inaugural Artistic Director and Guest Curator Kristy Edmunds
Converge 45 is a program of curated exhibitions of contemporary art situated in and around Portland, Oregon. Annual summer programming will showcase international, national and regional contemporary art with a Visitors’ Weekend concentrating on special viewing opportunities and forums. In its 2016 and 2017 seasons,
Converge 45 is under the direction of Inaugural Artistic Director and Guest Curator Kristy Edmunds, Executive & Artistic Director at the Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA. Edmunds’ curatorial framework for Converge 45: “You in Mind,” will bring national and international artists, curators, and collectors to the Northwest with the goal of engaging with the regional arts community in critical conversations.
Edmunds’ vision includes an Artists’ Congress with 30 artists from across the US participating in three days of candid conversation and proposition building preceding a rigorous calendar of public programs and exhibitions. 2016’s participating artists include: Lita Albuquerque (CA), Chris Doyle (NY), Brian Droitcour (NY), Ann Hamilton (OH), Brian Holmes (IL), David Horvitz (NY), Chris Johanson (CA), Claire Pentecost (IL), Lynette Wallworth (Australia), joining Oregon artists Tannaz Farsi, Harrell Fletcher, Anna Gray and Ryan Wilson Paulsen, MK Guth, Malia Jensen, Jessica Jackson Hutchins, James Lavadour, Ellen Lesperance, MSHR, RISE: Radical, Indigenous, Survivance & Empowerment, Storm Tharp and Sharita Towne.
Converge 45 is made possible with the collaboration of Oregon’s leading private and non-profit creative institutions: Disjecta Contemporary Art Center, Douglas F.
