Emily Carr University is pleased to announce Sean Lynch as the Fall 2016 Audain Distinguished Artist-in-Residence.
Please join us in the ECU Theatre on October 6 for a talk by Lynch, which will be followed by a reception in the Charles H. Scott Gallery.
The Audain Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Program, funded by Michael Audain and the Audain Foundation for the Visual Arts, enables the University to bring the world’s leading contemporary artists to live and work in Vancouver for a one- to three-month period. Guest artists and visiting lecturers are an integral part of the Emily Carr community. They complement students’ education and work with existing faculty, bringing new opportunities for collaboration and engagement.
Sean Lynch has exhibited throughout Europe and North America, including solo exhibitions at Modern Art Oxford, Dublin City Gallery, the Frankfurter Kunstverein and the Rose Art Museum in Boston. Lynch represented Ireland at the 2015 Venice Biennale with his project Adventure: Capital. His work A Preliminary Sketch for the Reappearance of HyBrazil was included in the group exhibition The Voyage, or Three Years at Sea Part VI at the Charles H. Scott Gallery. Along with artist Michele Horrigan, Lynch runs Askeaton Contemporary Arts in County Limerick and has curated exhibitions for galleries in Ireland and the UK. He has an MA History of Art and Design from the University of Limerick. Lynch is represented by Ronchini Gallery in London.
