A national research centre of Nanyang Technological University, the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art (NTU CCA Singapore) launches its publications programme, as another space of the curatorial. A recipient and producer of knowledge, the publishing activity contributes to the holistic approach of the NTU CCA Singapore by expanding the connections across the Centre’s exhibitions, residencies, public programming and academic education. Through their mobility and lasting nature, publications will introduce and disseminate the Centre’s research beyond its physical parameters.
We are pleased to announce our current and upcoming publications:

SouthEastAsia: Spaces of the Curatorial
Jahresring 63
Published by Sternberg Press
Edited by Ute Meta Bauer and Brigitte Oetker
Editorial Consultant: Lee Weng Choy
Edited on behalf of the Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries, in collaboration with NTU CCA Singapore
This volume focuses on the practice of curating in Southeast Asia, a region experiencing a time of increased global visibility as well as nation and institution building. The political aspiration to map and shape a regional identity through historical writing and cultural planning stumbles upon a multi-layered subject difficult to grasp or define. The diversity of voices in this publication mirrors the complexity of the region itself: its various curatorial spaces, infrastructures, and political systems. The publication includes contributions by Ute Meta Bauer, Zoe Butt, Kevin Chua, Patrick D. Flores, Gridthiya Gaweewong, Tony Godfrey, Yin Ker, Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez, Seng Yu Jin, Simon Soon, Nora A. Taylor, and David Teh.
Tomás Saraceno: Arachnid Orchestra. Jam Sessions
Audio publication
Album launch on Soundcloud: Friday, October 28, 2016
Published by NTU CCA Singapore
Edited by Ute Meta Bauer and Anca Rujoiu
Expanding on Arachnid Orchestra. Jam Sessions, Tomás Saraceno’s solo exhibition at NTU CCA Singapore in October 2015, we launch an audio publishing project, distributed online on SoundCloud and followed up by a printed release. Exploring the arachnids’s sophisticated mode of communication through vibrations, Saraceno developed several arachnid instruments that are able to amplify the vibrations of spiders, making them audible to human ears and translating them into musical material. The album brings together the jam sessions between arachnids and musicians performed live in the exhibition, and various recordings produced in Saraceno’s studio in Berlin. With contributions by arachnids: Cyrtophora citricola, Heteropoda venatoria, Lycosidae Sundevall, Nephila pilipes; and anthropos: Bani Haykal, Joyce Koh and Etienne Turpin, Brian O’Reilly, Brian Massumi, Ramuntcho Matta, and Evan Zyporin.
