Museo del Novecento, Sky Italia and Careof present Lo scherzo by Riccardo Giacconi, winner of ArteVisione 2016, a project in support of Italian talent.
The work will be presented to the public for the first time from October 11 through 16, 2016 in the Sala Fontana of the Museo del Novecento. The exhibition, curated by Chiara Agnello and Iolanda Ratti, will also include a talk between the artist and the singer-songwriter Alberto Camerini scheduled for the Twelfth Giornata del Contemporaneo on October 15 at 6:30pm.
Lo Scherzo by Riccardo Giacconi will be broadcast for the first time on Sky Arte HD (Sky channels 120 and 400) on Monday,October 17 at 8pm.
ArteVisione, whose purpose it is to support the under-30s Italian art scene, is organising a national tender to award a prize for producing a video project, a training course with professionals working in the audio-visual industry, an internationally renowned visiting professor, and a network of leading Italian museums.
Museo del Novecento will be working with Sky and Careof as ArteVisione‘s official partner to present for the preview the winning entry in the 2016 edition before making it part of its own collections.
Riccardo Giacconi’s response to the subject of the 2016 tender—focusing on technology as a means of deeply transforming individuals and the whole of society—was to produce a video portrait of Alberto Camerini.
Giacconi draws on a series of conversations and montage of previously unseen archive material to create a story full of details, variations and quotes, providing a picture of Camerini’s past as a public figure and his more private life in the present. Evoking certain key moments in the career of the singer-songwriter, the video outlines the peculiarities of his style, which brings together pop, punk, folk and electronic music, inspired on one hand by Commedia dell’Arte and Giambattista Tiepolo and on the other by technological innovations and the beginnings of the computer age.
The new ArteVisione 2017 tender, open through to November 20 can be viewed on-line on the Sky Academy and Careof.
The 2017 edition invites entrants to consider the issue of “Memory & Identity.” The ten chosen finalists will get the chance to take part in ArteVisione LAB, a professional-training workshop involving experts from the audio-visual industry and visiting professor Omer Fast, which will be held in Milan from January 16 through 24, 2017.
ArteVisione is a Sky Academy project, a series of enterprises that draw on the communicative power of TV and its content to promote innovation, encourage creativity and support talent in the up-an-coming generations.
Sky Arte HD (Sky channels 120 and 400), which looks at the endless resources of the worldwide artistic heritage paying special attention to Italian tradition and our talented artists, supports and promotes the ArteVisione project, providing visibility for the young artists who win the tender and publicising their works on its own channels.
