Focusing on art from the 1960s to the present, the MA in Contemporary Art programs prepare students for a wide range of careers in a field that has dominated the art markets for the past decade. By combining historical study with practical real-life skills, this MA provides students with a strong understanding of historical developments, critical theory, and institutional networks in the world of contemporary art.
London and New York are global centers of contemporary art and the Master’s degree programs provide access to the art professionals who are actively shaping the contemporary scene. Students can begin to build a personal network of artists, critics, dealers and scholars while exploring the many professional options available to them in the international art world.
A focus on communication and connoisseurship supports expertise in such areas as art appraisal and evaluation, curation, display and collection management, while the basics of art law and analyses of the financial structures of the global markets provide a foundation for entrepreneurship and management.
We believe contemporary art is best studied in-situ.
