Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art is pleased to present the 12th season of the Urban Field Speakers Series. Programmed by Scott McLeod and Jayne Wilkinson, this international lecture series brings together an array of global and local participants, including artists, architects, curators, designers and scholars, who offer unique perspectives on the role of art in transforming the experience of the city. Moderated by a host of local luminaries, past series have featured presentations by such erudite speakers as Theaster Gates, Chantal Mouffe, Trevor Paglen, Rebecca Solnit and Krzysztof Wodiczko, among many others.

Keller Easterling
Jayne Wilkinson, moderator
The architect, writer and professor at the Yale School of Architecture speaks about the politics of infrastructure, revealing the nexus of emerging governmental and corporate forces buried within the concrete and fibre optics of our modern habitat. Moderated by Jayne Wilkinson, writer, curator and educator. Presented in partnership with Visual Studies in the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design, University of Toronto.

Javier Téllez
The Venezuelan artist speaks about his film and installation art practice, emphasizing those works that engage with social outcasts, the marginalized and the disenfranchised in order to challenge our concepts of normality and pathology. Presented in partnership with Latin American-Canadian Art Projects (LACAP).

Lucy Lippard
Kitty Scott, moderator
The influential writer, curator and activist reflects upon her own lived experience in a New Mexico village in order to illuminate the relationship between land use, politics and art in the changing west. Moderated by Kitty Scott, curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Presented in partnership with Evergreen Brick Works.

Alison Crosby, moderator
One of the leading artists of her generation speaks about her sculptures and installations that bear witness to the legacy of violence in her native Colombia. Moderated by Alison Crosby, associate professor at York University. Presented in partnership with Latin American-Canadian Art Projects (LACAP).

Kathleen Pirrie Adams, moderator
The award-winning digital media artist speaks about his works that engage with sound waves, artificial intelligence and surveillance to illuminate the secret life of empty space. Moderated by Kathleen Pirrie Adams, instructor in the School of Image Arts, Ryerson University.

Series pass sales
Series passes are available for 42 CAD. Special series passes, discounted for students, seniors and Prefix Photo subscribers, are available for 28 CAD. Gold Series Passes, featuring front-of-the-line privileges, guaranteed seating until 7:20pm, and a charitable receipt for 100 CAD for income-tax purposes, are available for 180 CAD. Quantities are limited.
