Lesley University’s College of Art and Design has shaped the careers of professionals in the arts for more than 100 years. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, our MFA in Photography program and our MFA in Visual Arts program emphasize traditional and experimental approaches within the study of art, photography, and critical studies.

MFA in Photography—on campus
Explore the historical, cultural, and contemporary nuances of photography and its relationships and integration to other media. Through rigorous study, enhance your understanding of photographic art traditions while developing the necessary tools and expertise to continuously flex, refine, and evolve.

MFA in Visual Arts—low residency
Advised by faculty from diverse disciplines, craft a course of study that integrates creative work into your daily life. Sustain your studio practice in your local environment. Twice a year, assess your direction during 10-day residencies in Cambridge, Massachusetts. An immersion of critique, seminars, talks, and exhibitions, the residency experience is a catalyst for growth, reflection, and community.
