An art and architecture residency program hosted by the Bava Family with Galleria Acappella in Naples, Italy
Applications deadline: April 6, 2017
Galleria Acappella, Via Cappella Vecchia 8/A, 80121 Napoli Italia
Spazio Artisti is a residency located in Pozzuoli, a city and commune of the Metropolitan City of Naples, aimed at practitioners in the fields of art and architecture.
The focus of the residency is to explore the relationship between the city and its province and the tension between two sides of Mediterranean modernity as it appears in the working class “provincia” (Pozzuoli) and the bourgeois center (Napoli), where the resident will be offered the possibility of developing a project at the contemporary art gallery Acappella.
The program will be an experiment on hospitality and aims to revisit the residency format away from institutional exploitation and towards a format closer to a family structure.
Spazio Artisti offers accommodation for 1 month during which the resident will present a project at Galleria Acappella in Naples. It does not offer a stipend but a budget for travels and to produce a project will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
The first residents from April 6 to May 6, 2017 are Daphne Ahlers, Tenzing Barshee, Vittorio Brodmann and Lilli Thießen.
Apply for the residency period of September 1 to October 1 by sending an email to spazioartisti [at] gmail.com. Applications should include a portfolio (PDF or URL). A cover letter is recommended but not mandatory.
