Reem Ali (b. 1977, Damascus) is a Syrian actress and film director. She graduated from the Higher Institute of Arts in Damascus, and has a masters degree in Art Therapy from University of Paris Descartes. Ali is a renowned actress in Syria where she has appeared in numerous plays, films, and television series. She directed her first short film Nostalgia in 2000, and in 2008 she directed her first feature documentary Zabad (Foam) which gained international recognition and screened in many festivals including Rotterdam International Film Festival (2012), Carthage Film Festival (2009), Reel Film Festival (Edinburgh, 2011), Doha Freedom and Creativity Festival (2010), Arab Cinema Display in Marseilles (2009), and Cairo Independent Film Festival (2009). Ali is currently working on two feature documentaries.
