IHME is an art organization that combines art and science to raise awareness about the sustainability crisis facing our planet. They work with Finnish and foreign partners to stage an annual public artwork that aims to promote eco-social education and a sustainable, democratic society. As the climate crisis worsens, IHME is focused on harnessing the power of art to address environmental issues and bring together experts from both the art and science worlds.
Through their commissions, IHME explores new possibilities and meanings, offering a critical perspective on the world while inspiring hope and action towards a better future. They are also committed to promoting ecological sustainability in all their activities. The Finnish word IHME, which means “miracle” or “wonder”, reflects the organization’s goal of creating something unique and thought-provoking that captures people’s attention and encourages them to think more deeply about the world around them.
