Leaving New York City and heading to Florida for my Spring Break sounded like a great idea, beaches and relaxation is just what I needed. Being the photographer that I am led me to discover an abandoned subdivision within Loxahatchee, Florida referred to by the locals as “ghost town”. After talking to various real estate agents and residents in the community I discovered the town had been declared a Pediatric Cancer Cluster by the Florida Department of Health. I have revisited Loxahatchee twice since discovering this project in March of 2011 making pictures and interviewing frightened residents within the community.

The more I talk with these residents the more I fear for them. Several of the families can’t afford to pack up and leave this threatening area. I have been staying in contact with the residents and will be visiting the area within another month or so depending on my finances.
