Isabella Pers L’ARTISTA HA L’ORO IN BOCCA unrealized project

For the title I’m referring to the famous phrase 'All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy' that appeares in the film The Shining (Kubrick, 1980). The book that Jack was writing contained this one sentence repeated over and over. For the Italian version of the film Stanley Kubrick used our proverb "Il mattino ha l'oro in bocca" (The morning has gold in its mouth), that in my title becomes ‘l’Artista ha l’Oro in Bocca’ (The artist has gold in its mouth). This project involves the production of a series of paintings depicting Jon Jongbloed, brilliant forger born in Leiden, the Netherlands, in 1943, and imprisoned since 1985 in a prison in Amsterdam. From 1972 to 1982, he copied everything, so much that someone believe that many of the masterpieces we admire today in the biggest museums are made by him. The judge condemned him for thirty years. He presented two questions of grace, both rejected. Should be out in 2015. I would like to search Mr. Jongbloed, get in touch with him and go to the prison to portray him. In this way the project implements a shift of points of views, and a focus on the possible similarity between guilt and talent, in a time when the sentence is not connected to the creative world of artists and their lives, but it is relating to the circle of the economic system of art.
